An ancient house with eclectic design mix and on a charming quiet canal
A most unusual property with wonderful atmosphere within its ancient walls and from its many original features, yet brought very much up to date with ultra modern bathrooms and good kitchen. Charming canal views. On the ground floor there is an independent unit with spacious main room, bathroom, an additional room with fireplace. There is a small independently owned apartment on the first floor, while the property nevertheless feels very much like a whole private house, with a very welcoming feel.
From the second floor the main apartment evolves from a spacious entrance area and wide corridor to a large living room overlooking the pretty canal with marble floors and original beams throughout, an adjoining formal dining room with library leading to a well equipped kitchen and guest bathroom, while on the floor above is a further living space, two spacious bedrooms, one of which is currently used as a huge walk in closet, and a master bedroom with windows on three sides. Two bathrooms on this level, one of which has hydromassage tub and central ozone therapy. Spacious attic space for storage.

Dorsoduro
This sestiere is regarded as the Mayfair of Venice: quiet yet brimming with things to see, from the Guggenheim Museum with its delightful, leafy gardens and exquisitely curated collection of modern art, to the Punta Della Dogana, a sensational collection of contemporary art in the old customs building, recently restored by Tadao Ando, to the Accademia Galleries. Snaking along the best part of the Grand Canal, you will find charming palazzi - some grand and opulent, others on a pleasingly human scale. Take a short stroll from the Accademia Bridge to the Zattere for a long canalside ‘passeggiata’ or to Campo Santa Margherita, where locals gather to catch up with friends to enjoy the night air. Perfect for an evening spritz before dinner, or a nightcap before walking home.
What attracted us to this property
It's unusual to find a property like this available in this most desirable of areas - on a really quiet canal yet only a stones through from both the Grand Canal and the Zattere, oozing with atmosphere and with many original features. Lovely!
